Up to £50 of free Tesco fuel with Tesco Car Insurance
I got my renewal letter for my car insurance this morning from Tesco.
As always, I usually check the figure they've quoted me, by applying for a quote onTescos website.
On the site I noticed they are doing an offer for free fuel when you take out car insurance or renew an existing insurance policy between June 21st & August 5th 2006
This wasn't mentioned at all on my renewal letter, so I wouldn't have know about it unless I visited their website.
You get £50 of free fuel if your policy is £501 or more, and £25 of free fuel if it's less than £501
http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/insurance/carins/faqs.html#fuel_offer
New customers will automatically get the vouchers if they supply a clubcard number when they apply for a quote, but existing policy holders with renewals between the offer dates, need to ring the Fuel Hotline number to claim their vouchers.

Damn Tesco's. I've just renewed my car insurance with them last week and like you said, it wasn't mentioned on the renewal letter and I never bothered to even go look at their site. I did however, get an online quote from Barclays whereby they promise to beat your current car insurance renewal quote or give you £50 (something like that). The quote did come out cheaper but told me I had to ring up to get this validated.
What they then failed to tell me, is that if the difference is less than £50 between each quote then this does not apply. A waste of my bloody time and energy, so decided to stick with Tesco Car Ins. Annoys me somewhat. My policy is £1001.00, down £200 on last year,so its not soooo bad BUT what do you think?? Should I ring them up and ask about this £50 free fuel and if they refuse, sod them off? Got me thinking now, maybe I should shop around for more quotes first.
Thanks for this tip mate, very useful and informative. :T0 -
CheekyLittleMonkey: Yeah, get what you can. If you'd had the policy less than 14 days then you can cancel without charge. Tell them you want the fuel voucher otherwise you'll cancel and sign up again, which is a waste of your time and theirs. Plus you should shop around too, I've never known Tesco to come out cheapest with me, and I pay similar amounts for insurance (so presumably we're lumped into the same bracket; young, male with an insurance group higher than 2).0
