Need a new printer

My Epson has gone on the blink. I need a reliable cheap to run printer, mainly for black print, but we do print digi camera photos and need good quality colour as well. We've never been happy with the Epson (Stylus Photo 810). What are our options - we have a dell system and a separate scanner. What would we have to pay for a laser printer? Is there a good reasonable ink jet anyone can recommend?

  • Hi oxter,

From my experience, you'd be best looking at a reasonable inkjet. If you're wanting to print colour photos, that is certainly the way to go (rather than a colour laser).

My recommendation would be towards the photo capable Canon range - The i965 is a very good printer, which has received high accolades. It's extremely quick and the quality is outstanding. The other benefit of this range is the colours are individual, so when one runs out, there is no need to replace the lot.

I've also had some reasonable experience of HP, but my personal preference is still for the Canon if the price is right!
