For beds and mattresses stay well away from any big brands or big retailers. If you shop on line and go for smaller independent manufacturers then you will get far better quality for your money.0

Helibeds are always advertising on TV and seem very cheap

Same/next day delivery too.0 -
Personally I'd go to Ikea, look around, then come home and order it all for delivery online. Will be cheaper and easier than hiring a van and doing it yourself.0

freecycle is always a great website to use for furniture, if not IKEA is normally the next cheapest!0

I don't think it was designed to kid anybody...
My experience:
I have a set of argos dining chairs (paid £50 for 6 after using some nectar points), an argos TV unit (£30), an argos coffee table (£10), a filing cabinet(£35), a desk(£30), etc - and they're all *fine*. They're not designer, they're not real wood, but they're hardwearing and *cheap as chips*.
Do you care to share your experience?
ETA: Oh yeah, our bed's argos too - something like £200 with a matress, very comfy, good looking and been doing us proud for about 4 years now.0 -

The only items that are cheap in Argos are those that are reduced to clear. All other items are expensive for the level of quality. This is actually common knowledge.
An example is a brass finish bed that they used to sell. The price was £299 for a double or £349 for a king size. The exact same models were available for £179 for the double and £199 for the king size on another web site. It was only when Argos discontinued them that the price was lowered to a reasonable price.0 -

"common knowledge" where?
When you spend £10-15 (not reduced) on an end table, it would have to be *extremely* poor quality to be expensive. And they aren't...0 -

That's a matter of opinion.
All items of furniture that I have previously bought from Argos, that appeared to be good value at the time have collapsed.
As for their mattresses, they only sell low quality brands.0
