hey all just to revive this thread, i completed the h/b forms and was rejected. i also put the same figures in entitledto and they come back saying i'm entitledto h/b. i would've thought entitledto would be relatively accurate or could the council be wrong? the sums seem to add up from their reply.

What was the reason?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

well the b'down goes like this.
weekly eligible rent 99.23
my earnings 128 less 26.85 disregarded income
maternity allow. 126.06
wtc 49.84
total used in calc. 274.05
gov. says i need 100.95 to live on:
income used 274.05
less gov. amount 100.95
excess 173.10
eligible rent 99.23
less 65% of excess 112.52
weekly housing benefit 0000
hope that helps.

has your partner had the baby? if so the child and family elements haven't been included in the calc. if baby was born while you were waiting for a decision, you need to let the council know your change of circumstances, see if they are able to revise the decision from the date baby born. if they can't revise, or if baby born after decision make a new claim.
once baby born phone hmrc for child tax credit straight away and apply for child benefit. once you get the child tax credit your partner should apply for a maternity grant of £500 - this has to be applied for within 3 months of birth of baby. make sure you keep council updated re when you're awarded chb and ctc.0 -
she's actually in the hospital the now, i'm just having some dinner then back up. should be home with the baby at the weekend all things going smoothly. so i take it the birth can change the calcs for h/b and ct. i contacted wtc to tell them of the change and they are stopping my single rate wtc and i'll re apply including partner and baby.
i just seemed odd that with the same salary figures entitledto said we'd be entitled to full housing whereas the council say nothing, not even part of it. so entitled to seems to be way off in my case. i did it using the same figures without the baby and with the baby to get an idea for the future both gave hb.
thanks for the help folks.

I was in a similar position last year. But we did get housing benefit. I got £123.46 MA and my husband earnt on average £100 a week. We did not get WTC but we got the majority of our rent paid (£100 less than our rent), so I think you should ask them to look at it again. What is the LHA in your area? When your baby is born you would be entitled to the 2 bed allowance so reapply once your partner and baby are home!

it's glasgow, just checked their site and it's 30 quid more allowance for 2 bed so i'll re apply when we get settled.

You will still get the couple rate but they will add on a family premium and child premium
