Question about Libel/Slander

Options
I Run a bank, A well known consumer website, its owner and members have systematically over several years slandered/libelled me and accused me of illegal activity and severly effected my trade and profits.

Recently a court confirmed that I was not breaking any laws and subsequently all action has been dropped

What are my rights against these people and the damage they have done to my business and reputation.

Can I demand compensation!!!!!

I hear what you are saying. I am really surprised that, after the Supreme Court has ruled, the OFT have dropped any further action and the general advice from a legal perspective is game over, articles on certain websites still state that there are "strong routes" to be followed.

Flogging a dead horse to my mind and potentially encouraging people to throw good money after bad.

    Agree with the above.

My concern is that the individuals could find themselves in SERIOUS cost consequences if the banks were to appeal against any County Court finding in favour of the individual.

Whilst cost awards are rarely awarded by the Courts in small claims matters, they ARE awarded in appeals.

To encourage individuals to take on big banks on a mere 'argument' is, in my view, utterly wrong.

You can only defame someone of good character. therefore as a bank you're on a loser there.

I'm pleased it's failed...otherwise the banks would be looking to get the money in other ways [ie from me!!!].

For example they are talking about the old 'charging to use a cashpoint' option again...and using 'bank chages refunds' as a rationale.
