My keyboard v's fizzy lemonade

The lemonade won. :(

I've unplugged it and drained the juice out but I'm assuming the sugar/acids ect will be harmful? Is it daft to just rinse it under the tap and put in in my tumble drier on a warm setting? (I have a shelf, the keyboard will be still and not tumbling about inside btw)

  • might work. i'd leave it somewhere warm rather than a tumble dryer tho, it might be a bit too hot in there.
  • Does this help?

Just let it dry out; anyhow, not a huge expense ; and lucky it's not a laptop keyboard
  • unplug it ,

rinse it under the tap (cold water) for a good few minutes.

then leave to dry naturally (hot press)

do not use the tumble dryer!

    Could take a few days

Happended to me about 10 years, dropped a new (2hr ) nokia phone into a pint of beer, had to rinse under the tap and 3 days later it worked!

Asda do some fairly decent keyboards also ;)
  • Undo a few screws and take it apart. You can even pop it in the dishwasher too. I would leave out the membrane bit and just wipe it over. About 30 mins of your time.

Thanks everyone. It's now been rinsed and is sitting draining, I'll put it in the airing cupboard once it's stopped dripping.

I started taking the screws out but there were a couple I just couldn't budge so I decided just to hose it down.

I've got a spare keyboard in the loft but this was my favourite as it was one of those 'natural' shaped ones so I hope it survives.

The annoying thing is that is was me that spilt the juice...and not even one of the kids.

Fingers crossed and thanks for the help.

  • MS Natural Keyboard -? Still using mine too. 7 screws. Needs a bit of a clean. Might just do what I say.
