Hi, I regularly freeze ham in packs of about 5 slices or more for making a weeks worth of school lunches with when I get the rolls. Works like a dream, bread doesn't go soggy and keeps fresh until lunchtime. I'd say it was the way to go. Also you could do other meals which involve ham as people have suggested. Lucky you to get it refunded. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I almost feel guilty now for getting it refunded! If I'd realised I could just freeze it I wouldn't have rung them, so I guess sometimes it pays to be a bit thick, lol.0

When you make sandwiches, when it comes to defrosting them make sure they are airtight otherwise they will just curl up and die and go really dry.
Enjoy.
Youve had some really good tips on here.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Did an online asda shop and was being harassess by the husband/kids/next door neighbour at the time. Consequently I managed to order a kilo of deli hand carved ham at £15 per kilo (I know not very mse).
I've just rung asda to complain and said I accept that ordering too much was my fault but how anyone thinks I would use a full kilo of ham between delivery tonight and tomorrow is beyond me.
How was Asda to know that you weren't having a party
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread, to give you more suggestions.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi folks, need some ideas with what to do with excess ham. Did an online asda shop and was being harassess by the husband/kids/next door neighbour at the time. Consequently I managed to order a kilo of deli hand carved hamat £15 per kilo (I know not very mse).Anyway delivery has arrived early (was booked for 7-9) and when I found my ham (theres loads of it) I found it has a use by date of tomorrow.
Because it's been sliced, and is not packaged in a protective atmosphere, air can get to it and it will spoil more quickly than prepacked sliced meat.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Make a hot salad and fry the ham or put into toasted sandwiches. Or make ham pittas with salad like a kebabIt's Britney !!!!!!:T0
