question about fraud liability

Hi,

Does anyone know if all credit cards have to reimburse you for fraud if you notify them promptly if you notice anything suspicious?

I've noticed some credit cards offer 'Internet' fraud guarantees while others offers fraud guarantee for both online and offline shopping - so does the level of fraud liability they'll cover you for vary - or is it just a difference in wording as most fraud is 'cardholder-not-present' anyway?

I'd previously heard that they will always refund you as long as you tell them quickly enough?

Cheers!

  • All cards offer the guarantee that if you have not carried out a transaction then you are not liable to pay for it as long as you have not been negligent.

You must give the company reasonable notice if you don't recognise anything on your statement. This allows them to ivestigate and if needs be charge the transaction back.
You won't be held liable for internet fraud orders unless the the company provides details that the goods or services are linked to your address.
