play.com and expired gift vouchers

Options
I was given a play.com gift voucher last Christmas - it has only just expired, but they won't re-instate it, nor will they give a refund to the generous person who gave me the gift voucher in the first place.

Any hints or suggestions on how I can fight them on this? Or can they sit pretty on £15 of money which they don't deserve?

  • To be fair - the vouchers do last for a year, and are a nightmare to account for without an expiry date.

Unfortunately they are legally allowed to keep the money. That's why when you are given gift vouchers you should spend them as soon as possible. Even if its to buy a present for someone else.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

I think they can "sit pretty".

They do expire... as do most gift vouchers.

That condition is clearly stated on them, isn't it?

You are quite right to ask them to extend their validity, but they too are within their rights to refuse that request.

Have to say that from I've been reading Play.com are becoming more and more hardnosed about things.
