Ipod Touch questions

Hoping someone can help me. I am thinking about buying my husband an Ipod Touch but have a couple of questions (which may be stupid ones....):
1) he currently has a standard Ipod which we bought a few years ago. It is full and has all his CDs on it. However, the music was all uploaded on to our old PC which broke and we lost everything on the hard drive. So he hasn’t uploaded anything new on to it for ages. Is it possible to install itunes onto my PC, then transfer all the music files from his current Ipod and transfer them onto a new one?
2) I understand the touch has wifi on it – can you watch BBC i-player on this ipod? (I read somewhere about the web format being different to explorer etc.)

Thanks

  • 1) there are programs that enable you to retrieve/back up the files from your husband's current iPod. Sharepod is free (https://www.getsharepod.com). I'll assume you have a new computer now and thus have sufficient space on your computer's hard drive to copy everything over. (I'd also back up to an external HDD if you have one for safe measure). Having done this, import the files into the iTunes library and sync with the new iPod Touch.

    2) you are correct - iPod Touch has iPlayer functionality using wi-fi when you visit the bbc.co.uk/iplayer site
