Looking for some advice!!
We are in the process of painting over our dark pink ceiling, however after 2 coats of dulux white emulsion, the pink is still there.
Could anyone recommend what type of paint or undercoat we could buy to make it nice and white?
Thanks in advance

We recently had to do this and it took four coats, keep at it!!!I haven't got one!0

the only thing i could suggest is apply it according to the 'spreading rate' instructions on the can. you could try a one coat paint but it would still probably require more than one coat to do. its hard. the only other alternative is to line the ceiling first and them paint over the lining paper0

2 coats is standard for painting anything, even painting over off-white. We recently painted over a dark pink colour, the 3rd coat did the trick, that was using cheap Wickes Trade emulsion.0

are you using a roller or a brush?
a roller will give a less streaky covering.
but a third coat should do it (or even a fourth)

I had a bright pink bedroom.Loved it the ex hated it.Tried emulsion I gave up.
Focus one coat is top stuff.I used paint pads I cant use roller for life of me.
18 months on looking decent but would recommend a second coat just in case of chipping/knocking.
Dont forget to leave 24 hours as well between coats.
Wish I'd kept mine pink though as my lovely other half is as mad as me.0 -
Thanks for all your advice, we are going to try another couple of coats and hopefully that will do the trick
I think we were being optimistic that 2 coats would do the job!
Thanks again0 -
annoying isnt it, dont waste money on named brands - I use wickes trade as works out 1/2 the price doing red hallway at mo and has taken 4 coats and about 8 litres of paint..................sick of sight of white paint - and got 2 more rooms to do.

Try the "one coat" paint. This is much thicker. You may still need 2 coats, but that should be sufficient.
Best of luck, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Whatever you do dont stir emulsion as its Thixotropic and that means it will get thinner the more you stir it so just pour it straight into a roller tray.0
