  • 1.0 Seat Arosa... an early one should be about £1000 these days. Pals got one and she loves it to bits. Cheep to run, comes with power steering, fuel injection and split folding rear seats, oh and its basically a VW with a seat badge

Try a Rover 200. Not too big, cheap to buy and they drive pretty well. Simple engines which are easy to work on and also a decent spec.

£1000 will buy you a mint P plate 214i or a slighly high mileage S plate model.

We're selling a V-reg one at the moment (211), but at a price possibly out of the OP's budget.

Not sure if I'm allowed to say that here really!

Avoid Mini's the good ones are getting expensive and the cheaper ones work out expensive in repairs.

what do you guys think of a vauxhall tigra? a bit over my budget but they look sporty and are basically a corsa underneith so very cheap to repair. i always thought micra part were expensive coz they are from japan - same with renaults.

ok my other tigra thread has led me to think that a tigra is a bad choice so maybe a micra is what i need! i just liked the thought of a more sporty looking car! i know my main goal is to get out of debt and my car is now up on ebay and should get £5K so what should i get? should i get a micra or a corsa, or a tigra, or an old fiesta? id love a KA but they are still quite expensive likewise the puma

just thought i would bump up me thread!

surely there must be some mechanic guys out there who can reccomend a solid but cheap car! max price £1.5K but the cheaper the better!

Go for a micra without a doubt. The metros rust a lot! The micra is solid too-my dd road tested one into a ditch and both came out unhurt.(both daughters-the car was rather wrecked)
