Now when I visit my allotment the kind tree surgeon leaves his tree chipping's , The odd thing is that they are mostly Leylandii . Which we put down as weed mulch .
They are such problem - this should sold with a warning about legal , health and safety. After seeing one go up in flame during hot weather , they give off a vapour- that smells like turpentine, Legal battles can and have cost householders an arm and a leg in these case's - Why plant a tree which can and will grow to 80 feet or more . In a small garden the tree as a hedge which needs Jez211 come in singing 'I'm a Lumberjack an I'm right' at least twice a year and your purse will start to complain, I would recommend a Beech Hedge as it only needs to be cut about once a year , It is comes two types green leaf or copper(dark red) leaf far less work. . Slower growth also . Hope you able to give the your lot a good send off to tree heaven ! .0 -
I had 6 of these horrors when i moved here. It cost £550 and that was 7 years ago. However the soil is now really good for thing like rhoderdenroms and such.0

Leylandii are tall trees which grow around 16feet height and the leaves design is different compare to other hedging plants. I have planted 5 to 6 trees in different corners of my garden and along with these trees I have other too. I think Leylandii is big for small size gardens but I am planning to plant some more trees of same category as my garden is big.0

sorry for digging up an old thread .
I had a row off leylandii 20 ft high 30 feet wide .
My neighbour wanted them cut as they where blocking his light .
He has completely removed them and cut my privet hedge approx 70 ft
now the question is how much should I pay him .He wont give me a price just said pay him what I think it worth .I want to be fair on price .
I have the same amount again to get cut at some stage ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
How long did it take him and what were his incidental costs?
I'd be thinking c.5 hours work with a chainsaw plus disposal, he won't be expecting more than a couple hundred quid, he'd have done it (Leylandii) for free just to get rid of the beggars but if he's got rid of the stumps and cut your other hedge as well, why not offer £200 and see if he's happy with that?0 -
I had 5 leylandiis (plus 1 small) cut and stumps removed, two other threes removed as well, one tree just cut down with the stump left and three trees pruned. The guy did work over two days (not really full days) and we paid £330. We think we got it very cheap, but we can't complain about the work done. He did a really good job.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
