Train Journey Help Please!
this is the first time i am trying to book a train journey online, so i hope people can chip in and suggest ways you can lower the price of the journey as i find the price that im quoted very steep indeed!!
the journey is:
Chelmsford (Essex) to Brighton (Sussex). 19th March 2010 - 22nd March 2010.
need to leave chelmsford for about 9am, get to brighton via a stop at londons farringdon station.
been quoted by the trainline £43!
please help, im sure you can get this down to £20 at least as i could go to spain for £43 return!

The £43 quoted is the Off Peak return £39.70 + Trainline's fees, so tip number 1 is don't use the trainline.com use a train operating company ie Southern or East Coast as they don't charge fees.
Also keep checking the Southern Website as they always have offers onWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
It can work out cheaper buying Chelmsford to London and London to Brighton separately, from the train company who run each line, using Advance tickets (the off-peak return you've been quoted is a fare you can buy on the day from Chelmsford station).
For Chelmsford to London, it's www.nationalexpresseastanglia.co.uk
However, I just looked at Southern Trains website and for your journey, it didn't show any Advance tickets, making what you've been quoted the cheapest.
Keep an eye out for advance offers, or just buy on the day at Chelmsford station and avoid the Trainline's booking fees.0 -
You are looking rather too early for cheap tickets
Chelmsford to London there are none anyway - buy on the day
Southern do cheap advance singles between Victoria and Brighton - from £3 each way. Not sure when they are released though.0
