i have an old analogue satalite dish and reciever , if i purchase a new digital receiver will the dish and wire work or will i have to buy smaller dish any help would be grateful

The dish wont work m8,
you can pick up 2nd hand digi dishes pretty cheap though

The dish will be fine - the LNB should be OK if you are not getting Sky+ as long as it not a very ancient one.
The dish will however need re-pointing

I agree a dish is just a dish, the analogue dishes are bigger than the mini dish so will be ok

The dish will be OK but chances are the LNB is NOT a "universal" type so it won't work. The dish won't need "re-pointing" (unless it's brick and mortar) but it will need to be aligned on the Astra-2 satellite cluster.

Check the LNB fitting but it's probably a standard 40mm diameter clamp. This is NOT the same as those used on Sky minidishes, so make sure you buy the right one.
