Ipod or Zen that is the question!

I too bought one from Argos today but I keep getting the following message 'Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen Sleek Photo to the computer' I am connected but nothing registers between the two? Think I need a little advice. Thankscatch220

I had a Zen nano which I loved - I now have the Ipod 30gb video which I bought for £149 from a tip here and I really can't praise it enough. I'm not as fussed on ITunes but I love my Ipod far more than I expected. And although I wasn't fussed on storing photos and videos, now that I can I do and I love it.The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0

Not a techie I'm afraid but here's my thoughts.
We charged my son's Sleek fully via the mains but NOT connected to PC. We then installed all the Creative software but NOT the Windows Media Player as we already have that. I seem to remember something about needing Windows XP and possibly Service Pack 2 (SP2) as well. We then connected the player and it was recognised immediately and XP installed the drivers.
At a non-techie guess if your PC runs XP with SP2 and you installed the same way we did then it presumably should have worked. You could try uninstalling the software using Add/Remove programs and then reinstalling as above and see how you get on?
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers,

Bubba, had already done everything mentioned in your reply, will try it at my brothers and see what happens. Thanks thoughcatch220

I love my 20GB iPod and my wife's 30GB video iPod is even better. Got a tiny (PP3) external battery pack to extend the running time to 8 hours for long flights. I use mine for music, audiobooks and for storing foreign phrases. Uploading stuff is a dream with iTunes.

chances are its a cheap peice of crap then. IPods are highly overpriced for what they are, MP3 players (that dont come from woolworths and various other cheap places) work fine, and many are better than Ipods.
Just a little sidenote, NEVER buy an MP3 player from woolworths, my school bought MP3 players from woolworths last year to give as prizes for various things... at least 30 had to be returned.0 -

Catch 22. It sounds like you have a problem with your usb connection. Can u connect other things to the usb hub that you are trying to connect the Creative zen to ?
I connected mine to my computer via my usb connector and have had no probs. I did not load any of the software and the Zen shows up as just another drive on 'my computer' which includes folders for 'photos' and 'music'. I then just deleted the music and pictures that came pre-installed and dragged and dropped my albums and photos into their respective folders and they worked great.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
