CC refund possible?

Options
I signed up and paid for a course by CC.

Despite 5 emails asking for confirmation of where it was being held etc I had no reply until 10am on the day of the course itself. The tutor saying she had only just noticed my email...

Because of the distance I got their at 11.40am and had missed all the theory side and initial practice of the beauty course which I feel were essential to understanding it.

Considering the 45mins lunch break at 12 and my practice partner dropping out, I had approx half an hour of actual practice time but without anyone actually sitting with me which I needed having missed the essential first half of the day.

On return, I did not receive the manual by email as promised althought he tutor insists it has been sent.

I feel I have not received what I paid for and the tutor is refusing a refund. Can I go back to the CC company?

Yes custardy,....I'd try and get an agreement to join the next available course free of charge...a win win situation for both sides?

had a bit of an email exchange since my post and it turns out I can't have a refund because a) its in their terms and conditions and b) the company I booked with has ceased trading BEFORE the course took place but after I paid!

Will the CC company accept this as a reason to refund? I only booked a week before the course took place.

I'd talk to consumer direct who will give you definitive advice. However if the course cost more than £100 the credit card company is jointly liable.

Thanks for the reply. It was £113 and I phoned the cc company again this morning and they are sending me form to fill in.

Will it be my word against theirs? I don't know how these things work to be honest

I dont have any experience in this but, for details of what happend on the day it may be your word against theirs. but if you can produce all 5 emails that you sent asking for course info and also one which you received saying they only noticed it now, it may help indirectly....plus also you have quite detailed description of what exactly happened on the day and at what time..to me you have a good chance !!1
