May I dissent without being stoned by the mob?

2009 was the best year of my life. Enjoyed hard work and good travels, got my relationship back on good ground after a rough patch, reconnected with my father after estrangement, had good friends and good times. Money was tight and the world was teetering on disaster, but I was happy for the things that I had. I wish I had spent less / exercised more / yadda yadda yadda, but the good times were good and I wouldn't exchange it for anything! :j

Good on ya :D Always good to hear a success story...it gives muchos hope to those who had a carp one, that things can work out well...sprinkle the fairy dust on the rest of us for 2010 :)

  • I'm loving the idea for this thread Gun Jack. 2009 has been hell on earth for me so I'm going to say it one last time, and then not think about it as we head into a much better 2010 and put it all in the past.

OH has been critically ill all year. There were 8 hospital stays, emergency surgery, intensive care, anxiety, depression, sleepless nights, dealing with !!!!!! NHS staff, friends who couldn't cope then abandoned us, me having the prospect of giving up work to become a full time carer, not being able to go to work cos I couldn't stop crying, debts mounting, worry about having to move home cos no money coming in, and....phew. Think that may be it all.

On the plus side it brought our family closer together, close friends became even closer, I now appreciate being able to go to work, debts are reducing again and best of all...OH is making a full recovery. :jWe've been given the opportunity of a clean, fresh start.

Here's to 2010. It has to be better than 2009 cos it really could not be any worse. Here's to happy times, good health, spending the time we have wisely with people we love and looking forward to the future.

  • I just had a wee reminder of what my Christmas's used to be like! Our local news was at the New Children's hospital in Manchester.

DD2 spent three Christmas's in The Manchester hospitals, and i always remember that even though the circumstance was miserable, the optimism and hope for the future-just shone out of the place. Makes me feel humble again and really does put things into perspective for us all.
