Hi I have £10 left and I dont have a debit card to my savings account. Its £7000 over about 8 months I worked out and every week like £50 went out one day and maybe £100 a few days later. But in August I had to use over £300 extra to buy I have 3 older sons 14, 12, 10, school uniforms that was expensive. I dont think I spent excessively as normal we just have enough food to survive and we actually didnt have to struggle to feed ousrselves for a few months.
Did this also cover the rent/council tax? If it didn't, I think that it's going to be looked at as excessive.
You mention debt repayment in an earlier post; was that for making the regular repayments or have you used this money to completely repay them; that'll make a difference.0 -
I get housing and council tax benefit still. I pay £100 a month to a debt plan and dont have reciepts for food shopping. Me and my kids lost all we had when I left my ex clothes, toys, so I replaced that, we had nothing and I mean nothing for our home. Wish I didnt have that money and gone without now. I get £30 a week income suppot and have applied for it to go back up to the full amount.0

I don't mean to sound harsh and it is Christmas, but you really wish you went without it?
When you ask for the state to look after you and your children (which they do readily) your end of the bargain is to be up front.
You had 8K to spend and would rather you never had it?!
I never get this mindset.
For the sake of you and your kids, you need to start getting statements from people the money has gone to, ultilities, food, payments.

You drew out cash, then paid cash in the shops? Do you not have any receipts from the food shopping? What did you do with the receipts?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

I don't think the DWP are being at all unreasonable. You state:..I was awarded the monies from house sale, approx £15000. I informed income support and they accepted I had to use most of the money to buy things for the kids and myself
So you had £15k, with which you needed to furnish your new home.My income support was reduced and I had to use the £7000 over the last 6 months to pay to live and debts (my ex left me in debt) and bills
So you spent £8k on 'stuff' and then spent another £7k in the last six months. And now you are complaining that the DWP want proof that you have not intentionally deprived yourself of income? And to cap it off you are still getting HB and CTB?? Hardly deprived, are you? In fact, it sounds to me like you knew exactly what you were doing and were relying on the DWP not asking too many awkward questions about your spending habits.
Out of interest, over what period have you spend £15k?0
