boiler problem in Watford

Options
Hi

Is there a heating engineer in Watford who can help with a boiler repair in Watford?, i've got an Ariston room sealed combination boiler (model- Microgenus) the pilot light has gone out:mad:, my brother asked me whether there was enough water pressure and said it needs to be at least on 2 (its below 1) he told me to let some water into the boiler, but I can't find any valves to let any water in:mad: can anyone offer any help to either self remedy or any safe registered boiler repir men in the local area?

If I didn't know of anyone myself then I'd go for the fixed-price boiler repair from British Gas. It's a bit less than £165 where I am. Not great if they just need to flick a switch but perfect if there's a bigger problem. http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/maintenance-and-repair/boilers-and-heating/boiler-and-heating-repairs.html

I'm certainly not an expert but the pressure I'm sure should be just above 1, not two. There will be a tap of sorts underneath your boiler which is attached to the copper piping which tops it up with water. Have you asked a friendly neighbour if they can help you locate it? Hopefully Canucklehead is around this evening to answer much better than me!

I no nothing about combi - boilers

But I believe to increase water pressure , you turn a little lever beneath the boiler
( sort of inside of casing )

Follow all exposed pipes to the boiler,

So look for a lever ( about an inch long ) at 90 degrees to one pipe

    good luck

It's a silver braided filling loop from the cold water pipe to the central heating pipes, with 2 taps on. But it may not be left on the boiler after installation.
May well be different on older models as well.

I've had a really good luck and can't find anything, could it be inside the boiler casing ?

I assume when you talk about the pressure relief valve you mean the filling loop? It should be under the boiler usually black lever and steel braided pipe - to top up the boiler pressure turn it anticlockwise and stop when you get to 1.2 bar you will hear the water struggling through

Found this on the web
  • can personally recommend any of the following, all based in watford and top of the game (hopefully one will be able to squeeze you in!):

google tells me that the ariston microgenus needs to be at 1 bar pressure only.
it cannot tell me where the filling valve is though!

its usually underneath. a panel may have to be removed first.
    Get some gorm.
