Hi,

I cannot get my X Box to connect to my wireless router, any ideas?

I am using new style black X Box dongle.

I am trying to connect to Sagem F@st 2504 Sky router/modem.

I have set up the correct SSID and network key, which works with my laptop.

X Box says network failed

Have you plugged the adapter into 1 of the 2 fron usb ports and have you tested the connection
  • AFAIR, the Xbox 360 Wifi dongle doesn't support WPA2 so if you're using WPA2 wifi security, change it to WPA or WPA+WPA2 if your router supports using both at once.

Simplest thing, and actually cheaper than the RRP wireless, and far more flexible as they can be used elsewhere in the home - homeplugs.

    Love 'em to bits.

Plug them in, hey presto instant connection.

Doesn't help the OP, which wireless adaptor have you got? One that plugs into the network port on the back, or a USB one?

    Questions are:
The Sagem router by default broadcasts it's SSID, does the xbox see it, or do you have to manually enter it? If the latter then that for me sets bells ringing?
Is the connection set to Infrastructure?

Encryption - what does the adaptor support? WEP or WPA? Make sure they are both the same, you may need to change the key to psk?

Plenty of help both here and on the net generally. Good Luck!

Is the Router your using "N" enabled?

The new Xbox wireless adapter will only work with "N" enabled Routers

Sagem is b/g only, no n.
The new Xbox wireless adapter will only work with "N" enabled Routers
The new adaptors are dual band and compatible with a/b/g and n networks.

I have plugged it into the USB port alongside where the adapter clips onto the back of the X Box per the instructions
AFAIR, the Xbox 360 Wifi dongle doesn't support WPA2
    I am using WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
Is the Router your using "N" enabled?
No, but I have now got it to work using "54g performance"

Connected to X Box Live but cannot connect to Windows Media Center.

When doing the configuration it sticks at searching for extender.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
