Curly, you know what muggins 'ere thinks? I reckon you should ask the OR, I think you should put yourself a case together with descriptions like you did right in the very first post, I think a letter from your doc would be fab for your case if you could get one. I really don't see why the OR would say no when you obviously have a need for it. I guess originally in the interview the OR examiner is going to say point blank no but there's always common sense cases and things don't always run according to the guidance or rule book. You try girl, you take this fight on because you need it - personally, I don't think you'd have much of a fight!0

I think you will find it easier to 'justify' to the OR the cleaner if they weren't a relative. Maybe by paying a little more to an outside agency you might get the payments approved, but I'd check firstThe proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

It's worth talking to CAB about your DLA claim as you may qualify for lowest rate care. I was awarded it on the criteria 'you are unable to prepare a cooked main meal for one person'. The criteria means a proper cooked meal, like roast dinner or cottage pie. It doesn't mean chucking a meal in the microwave which is pretty much all I was able to do. My condition is variable too so it means that some days I was able to cook a proper dinner but alot of the time I couldn't or needed help chopping veg etc to be able to do it.
The whole claim process is hard to go through as I am sure you know... you get used to focussing on what you can do rather than what you can't do and most things you think that you get by but when filling out the DLA form you have to concentrate on what you can't do and consider 'if I was completely alone, could I still do that'. When prompted with this question I was finding my answers very different than the 'yes I can do that, I get by'. If you think your answers may be different if you considered being alone then you should probably get your claim re assessed.
In any case I shouldn't think a cleaner would be unreasonable for you and, like others have said, with a doctors letter to confirm it I think an OR would have difficulty telling you that it wasn't a 'reasonable domestic need'.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.
