I've alway paid for a cleaner due to my disabilities (pay my 17 year old cousin £15 pound a week to come in twice to vac polish and clean the bathrooms change the beds etc)
CCCS told me not to put this on my SOA as it won't be allowed, so put £400 for shopping for 2 people

Since I got my IPA of £71 I've worked out how much I have left and I don't have the money to pay her, so I've told her I no longer needed her.

I've been off work today and to vac the livingroom and polish (after polishing needed my nebuliser as shouldn't use it myself) its took me 3 hours.
Before I go to bed I have to empty the dishwasher which itself is very painful as I have a bone condition where my bones are crumbling, the rest of the kitchen and clean the bathroom. Its not going to be don't I can't stand any longer - also meaning no tea as my husband at work till 11pm

My husband does most other things example all the washing, drying, cat litter tray, sorts out & puts out the rubbish & Recyling and then running round after me. but he works shifts (50 hours a week + 3 hours a day travel) so some weeks I don't see him for the week.

I work 48 hours a week (+ 2 hours a day travel) myself so its not as if I am at home all day doing nothing

This week he is on lates so I am not going to see him till 11pm on xmas even when I have to go and pick him up- lucky we are going to our parent for christmas day as I can't get to the shops on my own.

After today i'm very worried my husband isn't well himself and he can't do any more.

What do you think the OR will say if I tell him I need money to pay a cleaner / someone to take me shopping etc?

Yes I get a mobility car but I can't get any carers allowance as I can cook and feed myself (when I can stand up - when I haven't do to much) and I can take myself to the toilet and shower etc

    Hi Curly

Sorry you are feeling so tired. You shouldnt have to struggle like this.

Are you in receipt of DLA? If so your cousin may be able to claim Carer's Allowance-£53 per week approx for helping you at home(or does your husband already get this?)

I am not sure of your age so I dont know if this info is appropriate, but Age Concern have a fact sheet on help with the costs of home help here:

I'm 32 I've always been disabled and because I've always worked I've had to fight for everything.
    As I work I can't claim for a carer

    hi Curly
sorry you're feeling like this. have you thought about reducing your hours at work? sounds like you both work a long week and your health has to come first. think about it at least. i know it's hard when you need the money...
by the way, i don't think the OR can have a problem with the cleaner requirement, can you back it up with docs note or something about standing up etc?
    all the best curly

You can Curly-my MIL works and on DLA and her husband gets carers-its how long they spend caring for you.

Also, could you get your DLA reviewed-it sounds to me as the care element should be on the lower limit at the least?

EDIT: MIL is on middle rate for care and this is a requirement for carer's. Sorry Curly. Could you not speak to your doctor about this?

Its hard to find a job when you have as much wrong with you as I do, Plus the fact I work in insurance and I am BR

i understand....i went part time but it's up for review soon...not sure if they will let me continue p/t but i can't cope f/t. i feel a bit trapped there as i use the private healthcare and i reckon my health situation would put other employers off - plus i now have the br on my file...

i hope you come up with something soon... x
