In Glasgow today the shelves were pretty bare, but managed to pick up a new release dvd and cd, a book and a magazine for £15! Total price should have been £45! :) was really pleased, but will be sad to see borders go as I really like that store in town.

I'll be going to the one in Cheshire Oaks tomorrow, see if they have anything left!
  • My advice would be to head in early as possible. I was in around 11 and it was fairly busy, but queue not so bad. Went back in about an hour later as I had been overcharged for something and the queue was about 1hr's wait and went right to the back of the store and into the basement lol...needless to say I just left it lol :)

Does anybody have any idea what time Borders in Dundee opens tomorrow? Thought I'd see if they had anything left before I went into work.

Used to be 8am because i sometimes used to nip in after the gym before work. I am considering popping in myself but dunno if i can justify the drive form monifeith

  • got loads at the Silverlink the past couple of days. I collect momiji dolls and they were selling them for £2 each this morning normally £10. Denby bowls £2, got loads of books too! Gift boxes in paperchase, xmas cards. I'd go again tomorrow but doubt there will be much left!!

If you don't mind me asking, when did you all find out about Borders closing?

Sad really another good shop & a lot of jobs going!
  • I found out about two weeks ago. Just the day before it was announced I was in buying a stack of xmas gifts. Its such a shame to see it go, buchanan street won't be the same without out.

However, I did manage to get a lot of my legal textbooks for next semester half price, so i'm thankful for that as i've saved over £50! :) Much preferred Borders to Waterstones.

I love Borders - but twice now I have tried to get into my local before it finally closes its doors - both times I have wasted half an hour trying to park and when ds went inside today whilst I carried on playing 'hunt the space to park'..... he came out saying "don't bother".
Absolute chaos inside, and that didn't inc the queue to get to the tills.

Very sorry for all the staff who have lost their jobs. No time is good, but Christmas...... feel very sorry for them.
