dispute transaction help?

I booked a course using my card but was not told over the phone that the price was plus vat. Apart from that, I didnt get the course details through in time and despite 4 emails to the company did not get a reply until 10am on the day the course was due to start. Needless to say, I missed half the course and have emailed since asking for the printed materials and again, no reply.
I have disputed the transaction with MBNA but am confused as to what to do. They say I need a record of the transaction but as it was discussed and paid for over the phone, I don't have one. To dispute that I didnt get all I paid for, I need a breakdown of the costs but how do I do this?
I can see this is all going to be my word against the company with MBNA siding with them.
What's the best way to proceed please?

The original email I got from the company says £99 only but a later on does state plus VAT but I didnt notice the change...
Can I still claim the amount back as not receiving what I paid for?0 -

Start at the beginning - was the course advertised, how did you know about the course. Very often these things are advertised and then in very small letters at the bottom it say 'plus vat'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The lady met with us for another matter and mentioned this particular course and quoted £99. I then emailed and checked the cost and she replied £99 - no mention of VAT and I still have that email.
I have since tried to get a refund direct from the company because of their lack of communication. They are trying to tell me that they have sent me the course manual (and letters of communication via the post) and I have not received any, yet I have received all their recent emails querying this amount since the cc company phoned them direct.
The latest email from them is telling me that the company I booked with has been wound up between the week I paid and the delivery of the course itself.0
