Fitted Bedrooms

Options
Hello,

I've bought a new build one bed flat so space is at a premuim and wondered about getting fitted wardwobes. I have just had a quote from Sharps to install fitted wardrobes and wondered if anyone had any advice on them?

a) would this really add value to the flat when i come to sell it
b) any haglling techniquies i can use to get a good deal.
c) anyone know any place that is quite reasonable

The sales person left me an offer open till the weekend which gives me about 50% off but the cost is still around £3000. Tried the old if you sing now then i'll get an extra £200 off, but i thought its best to try and get alternatives quotes first.

Thanks for any advice

I wouldn't touch Sharps with a bargepole. They ruined our installation and had to take a good chunk of it back out, sent the wrong colour replacements, left one set of replacements in the front garden and were overall just useless. We refused to pay until they agreed a compensatory figure to be deducted. What should have been a two day job, took six weeks.

Oh and they tell you when they are going to deliver and fit it, not ask you when would be convenient.
  • I personally don't see a fitted wardrobes adding value.

IKEA has practical storage solutions for all spaces, large and small, with different styles and prices.

(help me!! I think I've been brainwashed!!)

Fitted wardrobes wont add any value, but will make the property more saleable.

£3000 sounds a ridiculous amount of money to pay. is there not a carpenter advertising locally that you could use and buy the wardrobes flat pack from a DIY store.
Hate seeing people ripped off and hope you find a solution.

I didn't take the price on board. That is far too much. It means that you were quoted £6000 to start with.

We didn't have all the insides fitted out on ours, we just had the metal rails put in. We have then put shelving at the back for storage and bought baskets on runners for the front. Even the man who came to put the mistakes right said that it was a lot better than how they do the internal fittings which waste a lot of space.
  • If you hired a carpenter for a week and spent hundreds on materials you'd still be quids in!
MFI are doing a lot of specials on fitted wardrobes if you are really set on having them.
Hope you get what you want!

we've a local comapny that does wall to wall fitted wardrobes with sliding doors for £700, anything up to 12 foot including shelving and rails, you just choose what you want where. Probably would have been cheaper with a carpenter by a bit but for sake of ease took the plunge
  • Thanks for all the advice, i think i'll give a local carpenter a call before deciding.

    Thanks
