Car insurance cold calling

(Ranting again!!)
I had some company call me on my mobile, they said my car insurance was due on Jan 1st (which it's not)... I said I'm not interested and put the phone down. They called me another 2 times that day, I said 'not interested' again...they called me 3 times a day for a few days and I didn't answer, just cut the call off thinking they'd give up - ten days later(!!) I answered the call and before they could talk I said 'do you have a log of how many calls you have made to my number?' etc etc etc... 'I'm getting really, really p***** off with you ringing me now and I don't want another call, ok?' Which did the trick & they agreed to remove my number. So why can they not just take the first polite 'no thanks I'm not interested' and save everyone the hassle?
Now I have registered my number with the TPS anyway

What annoys me is the extremes of data protection you have to go through. Particularly on the policy in my wife's name on the care we both drive.
Is there a big problem with people making fruadulent enquiries about their car insurance?
My problem isn't cold calling, it's allways resulted from online quotes.0 -
I don't know biscit..
I've used the comparison websites for the last few years, I've had one or two calls but they've never called back once I've said no thanks - these were just rediculous. I'd name & shame only they said the name so quickly I didn't even catch it!0
