    It's the inside. The oil got to smoking temp! Am left with a lovely black/brown stain inside my lovely saucepan.

    Aluminium scourers work really well on these marks.

    If Coke can remove all sorts of rubbish from stained pans what does it do to your stomach when you drink the stuff.

    Not on a non-stick pan! For all metal pans, those scourers are the weapon of choice for most kitchen assistants I know.

    However, Thriftlady's approach of remembering what substance you are dealing with and using the brain first, has to be the way to go.
    The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • I use hot water and leave it to soak with some biological washing powder in it - also works brilliantly on pasta bake dishes!
