    Not on a non-stick pan! For all metal pans, those scourers are the weapon of choice for most kitchen assistants I know.

    However, Thriftlady's approach of remembering what substance you are dealing with and using the brain first, has to be the way to go.
    The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

    I use hot water and leave it to soak with some biological washing powder in it - also works brilliantly on pasta bake dishes!
