Student account into current accounts with credit card advice please

Hi, I am new here so here it goes:

I finished my studies and have started working FT. Whilst I was studying I had two student accounts HSBC and Natwest along with two current accounts Lloyds and Barclays.

I would like to transfer my two student accounts into current accounts is that possible and will I get credit checked for this? I know my credit check is good as I was told by the Barclays assistant when I opened my current account 10months ago.

At the moment I have no credit cards therefore looking around to see what the best deal is, I have no debt (apart from student loan which is being paid back). I just want to find out which credit card is the best for normal spending as I want to build my credit for future purchases i.e. loans and mortgage applications.

So which credit would you recommend and would I get credit checked?

Thanks

I had(have) HSBC and Natwest Students accounts, they moved by themselves to Graduate and then current accounts. I think it's standard practice, no checks etc involved...

Do you have overdrafts attached to the student accounts?

i do but have never went for that option. Only was used for saving rather then spending.

I went for the Lloyds Platinum and Natwest credit card. I hope i made teh right decision.
