You need to get the laptop to "find" the right network, and then enter the password you have presumably set up on the router to protect your wireless conenction from unauthorised use.0

Is the 'wireless radio' switched on the laptop?0

1. Have you switched on the wi-fi button on the laptop? Should light up blue. You still need to tell your 'home' network to allow the laptop access to it in order to get on the internet.
2. You still might need a wireless adapter dongle thing. I have to have one no matter where I am in the house between PC and laptop. One half goes in PC (USB) and the other half goes in laptop (USB), there's a little bit of software to install to make sure the 2 run together, but once it's done you'll be fine.0 -

Wireless is Orange. Bluetooth is Blue.
No, she won't need an additional wireless adaptor.0 -
