in Credit cards
hi
a quick question
i know when abroad it is best to use a card that does not charge the currency loading
tarrif ( only Post office and Santander do not ? ) as at present i use a co-op credit card and a tesco one for most things etc.
but i will be on a cruise ship Royal Caribbean , sailing from Dubia in the new year etc
when i settle my cabin account at the end of the cruise , will i be hit
with that currency tarrif if i use another card ( other than the ones i mentioned ) ?
in other words am i best getting one in case
thankyou.

I believe the currency of Royal Carribean ships is dollars (American).
Therefore yes you will be hit with any currency charges (approx 3%) if you use the wrong card.
Furthermore the cruise line themselves may make a charge for AMEX.
You need to double check the ships currency and make sure you get a card that doesn't charge extra for dollars.
Some cards e.g. Nationwide, are different inside/outside the EU (I think it's VISA rather than Nationwide but it's passed on).0 -
thanks lisyloo
i will contact Royal carribean and ask them about any possible charges etc.
and apply for a Post Office card in the meantime as i am bound to use it on my travels
thanks again.
