Radiator Problem

When my CH is switched on I assume the hot water goes immediately to the feed pipe of the radiator, making it`s way through and out of the return pipe.
So at first the feed pipe (control valve) always feels warmer than the return (lockshield) as it makes it`s way through.
I ask because it seems the "lockshield plastic cap" and the "control valve plastic cap" may have been put on the wrong way round.
Also should the control valve always the same side as the bleed valve or can it be either?
I`m going to attempt to balance the system because a big double radiator in the lounge doesn`t seem to get as hot as the others and also takes ages to heat up.
Any help appreciated.

The control valve can be on either the feed or return.
If it is thermostatic valve it will be fitted with the valve in one position if on the flow and the other way around on the return. ( If that makes seance to you?)I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Take a close look at the TRV, the vast majority of them have a directional arrow to show the installer what direction they need to pipe there flow and return, they will work on both flow or return as long as the arrow corresponds to the direction of water flow, it should work slightly better if fitted to the return pipe.Norn Iron Club member No 3530
