Virgin and British Airways Bookings

I have recently booked a weeks trip to New York and started by looking at a Virgin package deal. This included flights from Heathrow and accomodation in a 3 star hotel in mid-town Manhattan (and transfers) at a cost of £1719.
However I then looked at Virgin Atlantic for the flights and Virgin Holidays (i.e. separate bookings for each) and the price came down to £1530 for the same flights and the same hotel.
I then checked British Airway flights and this reduced the price by another £200 (but still booking the hotel through Virgin which was cheaper than via the hotel direct) to a total of £1315 a saving of over £400. No transfers from JFK/Newark to the hotel are included but you can get these for as little as £15 each way and some hotels do them free back to the airport.
So I guess I'm trying to say dont think a package through a company is the cheapest way - check it out the prices individually as well.

Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
