Mouse Cursor Issues

When I move my mouse left and right, the cursor does not move, however when I move the mouse up and down, the cursor moves up and down on the screen. Does this represent a problem with my mouse or something else?

It would be helpful to us to know what make and model your mouse is but I believe cleaning the laser aperture or receiver (if wireless) may help but it is unlikely since it does not want to go left or right but has no qualms with the vertical, failing that check that the cord has not gone slack from the connection to your computer. I would be inclined to think it is a driver issue, particularly if you have updated windows in the recent past.

I would check the manufacturer first to see if they have any additions to the drivers.

Second, I would clean all the crap out of the eye of the mouse, or the rollers on the tracker.

Third, the cord from the mouse to the computer or the batteries.

Failing that, a better mouse. Logitech are supremely reliable.

Sounds like a ball mouse.

Take the ball out and clean the crap from the rollers. 2 mins.
