MoreTh>n changing to Lloyds TSB - New Card is NOT cashback

I've got a letter saying that the More Th>n credit card is stopping and that I’ll get a Lloyds one instead. The wording was “..will be temporarily withdrawn from the market with effect from 30.06.06.”
After reading the small print it seems that the new card is not a cash back one. I phoned them and was told that I could not have my cash unless I took out a new card - a bit frustrating, but I’ll play the game.
I duly got my new LTSB card and then a letter saying that it was a signature only one, and that I would get another(!) soon.
Anyway, yesterday was my mum’s birthday and I thought I’d take her and the rest of the family out for a meal, imagine my embarrassment when I went to pay with my More Th>n card and it was rejected!! (Luckily my GE Money) came to the rescue.
I phoned up More Th>n/LTSB and asked why my card had been rejected. The nice chap at the other end of the phone said that my More Th>n card had been cancelled as I had my LTSB card.
I pointed out that I had not been informed of this, and that the original letter stated that the card would be withdrawn from the 30 of this month. After a bit of a pause, I asked “So how much compensation is Lloyds TSB going to give me for my embarrassment in the restaurant?”
After checking with someone, I was offered £20, which I thought was reasonable for a 5 minute phone call.:D
The moral of the story is: use your More Th>n card until it is declined, and then complain to Lloyds TSB and ask for compensation!
