2. A dog living outside in an unheated kennel is used to those temperatures and has a thicker winter coat to cope with this. This dog is used to being inside most of the time.
What "dear old lady"?0 -
It makes a nice change for me not to be in Mutter's firing line, to be honest minimadtrix - but I think she misinterpreted your post (where you said that Cyberbob and I had voiced similar concerns to you on the thread, as indeed we had), to mean that Cyberbob and I had agreed with you and had PM'd you to say so... hence post #210

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up .. and there's me thinking I'd accidently PM'd Mutter! Obviously one to many sherries tonight (mutter not me - for clarification purposes of course)0 -
Right....
There is a woman who lives on my estate - she has no idea what is ging on inside my flat but a very strong opinion "People who work should not have dogs, the dog MUST be unhappy being left alone".
Yes, I work - my daughter is at home a lot (student) and I also have a dog walker who takes Zara out every weekday lunchtime for a walk with other dogs for at least an hour.
I take Zara out for at least an hour in the morning before work, the dog walker takes her out for at least an hour lunchtime, I take her out for 1-2 hours after work and then again just for a quick wee (her not me - so we clear) around 11 pm. My daughter is at home a lot - I have a dog wal;ker as my daughter can not take Zara out by herself - she weights not much more than my dog... LOL
Anyway - that woman has been giving me grief for almost 2 years now. All "for the best interest of the dog" of course,a little old lady the do-goody type who drags her own little completely out of control, agressive dog EVERYWHERE with her and bad mouths me to everyone and anyone. Tried to report me to the council that my dog barks all day (not true, Zara is ok when I go to work she barks when someone rings the intercom and this happens when I am at home or not). The council spoke to my immediate neighbours and none of them confirmed what the little old dear was complaining about. Then she tried to report me to RSPCA for.. exactly - dog cruelty. I will not even comment on this one, lets just say some people had a good laugh. She still does not give up.
One of my immediate neighbours is not keen on dogs full stop but even they were being honest and when approached by the council they said they do not like dogs, Zara barks sometimes but they see she is very well looked after.
the woman complaining lives... 2 blocks away.
Where am I heading with this?
This woman is making a lot of problems for me - not knowing the full story, assuming a lot and sticking her nose into someone else's business.
That can do some serious damage - my dog could end up in the shelter, I could be evicted.. if anyone took her allegations seriously.
A dog left in a car for 2 hours (with a cusion) even without water (do all your dogs drink every minute when it is not even hot?) is NOT a problem.
Let's be real here and stop jumping to conclusions about a situation we know nothing about.0 -
That is why I would have a chat with her - the dog may well be getting very cold, but it could probably all be sorted out very amicably!0

why dont you do the obvious thing and mention to the dogs owner that you have noticed she leaves her dog in the car and dont she think its a bit too cold to do that... no need to inform rspca , although they wont do anything anyway. maybe suggest she puts a coat on the dog and leaves a blanket in the car and shuts the window.spanky xx

I pointed out recently elsewhere how rude it is to say "What the Hell are you going on about?"
I'm not, "Having a go at you", you are totally inconsequential to me.
I merely state that a dog with a cushion, left for two hours is hardly an animal welfare issue.
If any issue exists, maybe it is one of a lady who has no friends, so why not befriend her rather than report her.
What would you all who advocate reporting her to the rspca wish?
Her dog removed to an unheated kennel with a concrete floor, surrounded by wire mesh and barking dogs. People who the dog thinks have arrived to fuss her but pass by. Poor bewildered little mite.
I say leave her in the car, or else start a campaign to rehome all street beggar's dogs.0 -
I think the crux of the matter is that the lady has left the dog in the car at a time when the weather is so bad/cold and it, in my eyes, is the reason for the OP's post0

Oh... my "concerned neighbour" had chats with me 83765036523 times "You should give that dog away".... One day I lost it with her completely, told her where to go and never spoke to her since.
She is still b1tching about me behind my back but I just cross the road when I see her - life is too short for me wasting my time on her, she is CONVINCED that she is right and nothing will change her mind.
She even tried to turn my own dog walker against me.... swett little old lady she is.. with my dog's welfare in her heart... Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I do nto get involved in other people's business unless I know the full story - here we only know one side....that is not a basis to judge someone/anyone.0 -

Because this is the Pets forum on MSE where under the guise of " feelings tend to run high amongst animal lovers" its much more fun to tear into each other and rip apart anyone who doesn't agree with the common consensus .
Mentioning to a neighbour that perhaps the dog might need a blanket pre forums days would have been the way to go. Now it seems that people no longer know how to think or act for themselves and feel the need to seek justification or kudos from complete strangers on a forum before acting
Just my observations of course0
