BT Softphone Free calls and Texts ??

I've downloaded the software but have many questions:-
Calls to other Softphone users are free other calls are at your "BT Broadband Talk rates" but you can use Softphone as a standalone PAYG product using a nonBT broadband ISP with a credit card top up so what are the rates in this case? are all UK evening/ weekend calls also free??

Text messages are Free until Sept but how do you send a text message to a mobile? - again not immediately obvious!

How do you receive calls?

You do need to have a BT Broadband Talk account to be able to use it.

Still...... I've managed to determine that you are only able to *receive* calls if you DO actually have a BT Broadband Tak account with a 056 number.

Little point in using this as a PAYG customer ...normal UK rates are at Together 1 rates......cheap international calls maybe..........but little else!

The Free Texts are only available to Broadband Talk subscribers

Update on this year old thread ............

PAYG users (after loading account with at least £10 ) can now send 100 FREE SMS text messages a month !

UK calls are similar to those using BT landline however international calls are cheaper .

Calls to other Softphone users are free
