Virgin Media - Misleading

When I moved into my new flat I could only get cable, so I checked with Virgin. The offer I was looking for was no longer available on the internet, so I phoned up. They could not find that offer but they offered me and even better deal (first warning sign!). It was £30 for broadband, cable and phone. It included Virgin +HD, XL broadband and unlimited free calls to landline for 6 months. I double checked that it included line rental and was assured it did. I was told not to panic when I saw my first bill as it would look high but that the discounts would be applied. My first bill was for £47 - I did panic and phoned to check. They had no record of what I was signed to and could not offer me the deal that I had been given. I had to downgrade my services and still am paying £35. I was really frustrated and they could do nothing but apologise. I told them I wanted to formally complain - unless you do, ofcom does not get knowledge of the problem when they audit virgin media and other services. You have to make the complaint official. I can imagine virgin and others get away with lots because people assume that their complaint will be logged - apparently that is not the way it works. Don't see the point of ofcom - they can't deal with individual complaints. rip-off britain!!!
