I'd like to have a portable heater just in case my boiler packs up so we can at least have one warm room....
Which type is the most economical? ie: most heat for least running cost!

The running cost will be proportional to the heat output - i.e. a 3KW fan will cost 6 times as much to run as the 500W oil heater... but it will give out 6 times the heat.
Fan heaters are great for warming up a room quickly and you can direct the warm air towards you. Against that they obviously make a noise...For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
They all cost the same to run. Presupposing the wattage is the same. The only reason for choosing one over the other is for convenience of use or possibly appearance. Having said that, I have several convector heaters stored in the garage. Bought because of their cheapness. Had them five years now, never been used.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0

Think about a Calor gas heater, works when there's a power cut which deactivates your CH timer and cheap to run.Trying to keep it simple...0
