My recommendation is to get down to the Dell Outlet
www.dell.co.uk/outlet
They have some great deals on the Dell Dimension 5150, which comes with Intel Dual Core processors (some of the fastest around). The PC`s can often be found with 1Gb of RAM, and huge hard disks. Keep checking as stock changes frequently.
£1000 inc VAT and Delivery should get you a very very capable computer nowadays, and some would say that was perhaps a little over the top!
As for laser printers, you cant go far wrong with either a Lexmark or a HP, my personal preference is for HP. Colour lasers can be picked up for under £300 now.0 -
The PC you cant beat Dell's price unless you custom build and chose your components wisely it wont be cheaper but it could be a better system.
The printer is the big thing, yes colour lasers are cheap but at about £60-70 for each tonner (2500 pages) they are expensive to run. you can spend more and buy the higher spec HP4650 to reduce the running costs slightly. If all he needs is mono I would go for the HP Laserjet 4250 they are a really solid printer that can handle high volumes. the smaller ones cant really deal too well with 1000 page print jobs if that is the sort of thing he is looking at doing.
The advantage of getting the high output mono he can buy a reasonable colour for the odd colour print he may need to do.0 -
See my post here for a few laser printers
