Dell monitor Auto adjust

Hi all,
bought the dell desktop deal a couple of months back. Pretty pleased, but the monitor keeps "auto adjusting" everytime I boot up or even switch the monitor on. Is there any way to turn off this extremely annoying "feature"???

I tried looking on the monitor OSD but couldn't find anything relevant.

Many thanks,
Garcia.

No I haven't but have you got your PC set up to the correct native resolution of the monitor?

Yes the monitor is 19" 1280x1024 and my desktop is 1280x1024. It still autoadjusts constantly though.

Hi there. I've got a Dell 2001 FP monitor and have checked the settings, as you say there doesnt appear to be a way to switch off the auto adjust feature.

On mine thought there is an option for factory reset, have you tried this if its on yours?

Other than that perhaps check the dell website to see if theres any updated drivers for your monitor and graphics card (if you are using the onboard model).

If thats no good then maybe you might need to call dell and see if they can recommend anything or report it as faulty and see if they will replace it.

Thanks very much for your very useful post fingerbob. Does your monitor also autoadjust whenever you switch it on? From what you are saying it seems like its a feature of the monitor rather than an error/something that can be switched off. BTW my monitor is analogue only.

Recently bought a Dell 19 inch monitor from btshop and had the same thing.
When I did a windows on-line update it had an optional Dell monitor driver update which I installed, and the problem went away.

I bought one of those, Garcia, had problems, not with auto adjust but couldn't switch it off properly, only from the main plug.
So.....deleted the files, disconnected, reconnected, put in the disc as if I had just installed it.
    Worked perfect, still working OK.

It doesnt auto adjust when switched on i'm afraid.

From looking at the other posts it seems to be a common(ish) issue and can be resolved without much effort by updating the drivers (as opposed to using the standard one that windows uses when you first plug it in).

Let us know how you get on! ;)

The Auto-Adjust only happens when you've connected your LCD panel to an analogue video output. If your PC has a graphics card with a DVI output, and your LCD panel has a DVI input, connect these using a DVI cable. This also has the benefit of giving you a better picture quality on the LCD too.

It's worth seeing if you can load a better driver for your LCD from the Dell website (go to Online Technical Support), as others have suggested.

The Auto-Audjust normally happens a) when the LCD is turned on; b) when the screen resolution is changed.
