They will do internet matches but were unable to better the price of the jvc hdd camera I wanted, so ended up having to wait a few days to get it delivered. The girl was lovely and helpful and helped me make my mind up. Their product knowledge is excellent.

Price Matching as a general rule at Jessops has been stopped and it now a competitive price policy. But how that affects price match offers I am not sure, but there was a definate change fo policy a few months ago.

I read the poster 3 times and am sure of the detail, it did only mention digital cameras and camcorders though.

I will double check tomorrow and ask the staff.

    OK,

The good news is that the offer is exactly as described in my posts above.

The bad news is that it is a trial in area 7, I wasn`t able to remember all the branches mentioned but he did mention Wolverhampton, stafford, Shrewsbury and some in north Wales.

He reckoned that the area manager (area 7) had got permission from HO to try it, there is no set time limit for the trial which means it could just disappear.

One interesting comment that i would want clarified if I was about to purchase was that "As we have a 30 day exchange policy, IF you buy today while the price match is available and find it cheaper within the next 30 days we would pay you the difference plus the extra 10%"

If the trial is successful it will probably become nationwide.

    In Kingston 2 posters
    1) Match price of any digital camera, refund 110% of the difference if you find cheaper, matching shops in radius of 20 miles. (when asked if match online assistant wasn't sure, said probaly not, but said if I bought camera case and memory card they would do "deals")
    2) Match price of any digital SLR including online

I am definitely going to push it and try them to match online price for my lovely olympus sp 700, and see what happens. And by the way how do they check? I could just come in and say "I saw this camera in currys for 99 pounds, and you sell it for 199, match it?"

They'll phone up the competitor to check. I worked for them up until three years ago and I did it all the time. Other stores would phone us for price matches too so fair's fair....:).

The poster in my store says "We will beat Internet prices"

As I explained, according to the staff it is a local initiative that `might` be expanded.

They will ring to check the price and ask if it is a web match that you print the page and take it in.

The poster does say there has to be a UK contact phone number they can call.

I contacted my local Jessops and asked about the price of a Canon XM2...£1579 I was told....I said I would come down straight away and pay cash if they would do a deal or good price....she checked with the manager....he said £1579....I said I can get it online for £1358 but didn't want to wait 48 hrs for delivery so offered them the business....cash price....still £1579...oh and by the way....it will take a week to get you one!!!....my local stor is quite small and I would reckon that sale was at least 10% of its weekly turnover...great store manager....NOT....I bet his bonus is quite low....lol

Can you tell me which store it was???

I saw the same today in York. Its a poster that quite specifically states that they will match internet prices and give you an extra 10% of the difference, ie the camera I want is £100, I have seen it for £90, so Jessops will/should sell it to me for £89!! Not a great saving, but if there was aproblem, I feel its easier to call in rather than pay to send goods back to an unknown shop.
