2 - Power
2 - Alarm Activation
2 - Anti-Tamper
Are you suggesting doing away with the anti-tamper, or has something else changed?
Also, you can install 2 PIRs on one cable. This may save you having to run a new cable from the control box. To include the anti-tamper circuit you would need 8 core, but you can use 6 core if you exclude the anti-tamper circuit. Not sure if you can install 2 PIRs on one zone by putting the sense wires in series.
the new pir's have an anti tamper spring built into them, which activates the alarm if the cover is removed or wire cut. this just leaves you needing 4 wires, 2 for the power and 2 which connect it to the control panel
you could connect 2 pir's onto one zone by just connecting the wires as normal, this would mean that if the alarm was activated and it showed this particular zone to be the reason it would just mean 2 pir's to check. however its not really advised. it would be far easier to get a control panel with more zones.0 -

This would mean that the anti-tamper circuit is not 24 hour and is only active when the alarm is set.0 -

nope, if you complete an installation of an alarm and then remove the cover from a sensor the alarm will set off, whether the alarm is set or not.
you only use 4 wires to connect the sensor to the control panel anyway. when i used to fit alarms, we used the other 2 for the contacts to save having to run yet another length of wire from the door to the panel if there was great distance between the two. this is perfectly legal and does not have any effect on the way the alarm works. infact its better because due to some wires from the contacts being on display and running round the corners of rooms and ceilings etc, if the homeowner cuts it, then its easier to replace0 -
It looks like I'm gonna have to get a wirefree alarm as nothing will do wirefree and wired
Should I be looking at alarms with auto-diallers ??If I get one of these, will I have to subscribe to get someone to monitor my alarm ?
any ideas on which alarm to go for ?
I need a box front and back with comfort lights.
5 PIR's , 4 door contacts, 1 control box, 2 remote fob's, 2 panic buttons
and a partridge in a pear tree
The garage is close to the house, should I use a PIR or a door contact ??
I also have a gate leading out to a field at the end of the garden. Can I use a door contact on this ? are they waterproof ?

an auto dialler is just a bit of kit that connects to the alarm and the phone line. you program in some numbers and if the alarm goes off it rings you.
as for contacts outside i wouldnt recommend it because they use reed switches and magnets to create a contact
id use a pir in the garage.
and as for which alarm to get, i havent got a clue im afraid as ive never dealt with wireless alarms0 -

I was looking tentatively at some wireless systems a few weeks ago - and certainly came across some which appeared to indicate they supported both wired and wireless inputs (i.e. mixed - not one or the other)
As ever - can't find them again to provide a link! But (e.g.) see the descriptions when you hover over some of the PIRs etc on this :-

............ I think adding some wireless elements to a wired system is where you started??If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Reading that is interesting
Looks like the PIR's and the door contacts etc etc will be the transmiters, and I will have to buy a seperate receiver box. This will then be wired into the existing hard wired alarm control.
After that, the possibilities are endless

That's how I read it. But I couldn't readily see where they sell the receivers? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
