You need to give more information for someone to give an informed reply.
Make/model of PC and wireless router. Do you have any other PC's that connect to the wireless ok. Did is just stop working, or was it after installing something.0 -

Looking at the spec it's quite an old unit, so I guess it's running XP.
First thing to look at is if the wireless card is listed in device manager under network adapters - and if it is, does it appear in "Network Connections".
If so, then it could just be a case of recreating the connection. If not, then it could be faulty and the cheapest option would be something like a PCMCIA wireless card from Ebay. You may get a better connection as well, as your current one is possibly wireless B, wheras you could get a 'G' as a replacement - as long as your AP supports it.0 -
could not find device manager but under network connections it is not giving the network connection we have set up on our computer originally and instead an insecured one. so i imagine we will require a new pcmcia. is there anything in particular that i need to bear in mind to buy one on ebay? thanks in advance again.Looking at the spec it's quite an old unit, so I guess it's running XP.

Device Manager is from Control Panel >[possibley Performance and Maintenance] >System >Hardware Tab >Device Manger
If you have an unsecured connection listed under network connections, it sounds like it is working, and you will need to scan for new networks, hopefully find your's, and enter the passphrase to connect.0 -
as did not set it up originally i cannot tell if it is set up there. there are a few things there. my wireless box is a 3 com . not sure that there is a 3 com there. what should i do to reset otherwise. there are 2 or 3 other things in there . though not sure what they are! thanks everso.Device Manager is from Control Panel >[possibley Performance and Maintenance] >System >Hardware Tab >Device Manger

In device manager under "network connections", there should be two or three lines of info - what are they?
Also do you know how your 3com wireless box is set-up. It could be unsecured (which is really bad), or hopefully encrypted using one of 3 methods - WEP, WPA or WPA2 - any of which need a keycode or passphrase to connect to. Do you have one.
What is the model of the 3com box, as I don't think they have made them for a while, so is probably only WEP, which isn't the best.0 -
the wireless box is linked into the phone and plugged in. it is a 3 CR war 101A-75 54 mps firewall router office connect.
under network adapter the one that says wireless is intel (r) prof/wireless 2200 BG network connection. hope that helpsIn device manager under "network connections", there should be two or three lines of info - what are they?

The Intel wireless card in the laptop seems to be working and does support wireless G (54mbps) as does the router. So on the face of it you shouldn't need to replace anything.
Now, as I mentioned before, do you have a passphrase for the router to set up the laptop connection again. Also, do you any other wireless devices connecting to the router to confirm it is fully working.0 -
would this be like a password (not sure but could try and guess if we had to pick one in the past). i have this computer which am working from at mo -does that help?I presume you have one of these which does support WEP, WPA and WPA2.
