    Right I have done a little more investigating, I really think that putting the USB Dongle is a big no no.

    However I think you can over come the lack of tools by using copper or aluminium wire rather than pipe, it should not really impact on the performance that much and is bendable by hand/pliers, I just ordered 2M of 2mm Aluminium wire on ebay for less than £2 delivered, I will knock something up when it arrives after Christmas and report back.

    I have also thought about sing copper tape as the element and have ordered some of that too.

    Dime Bar looks like this thread has inpired you to give it a go too. Maybe your right about the wire subbstitute. It can't hurt to give it a go. I'd be interested to see your findings.

    Yes it has inspired me to give it a go, not that I need to mind my router is sat on top of my PC and my house isnt big enough to cause problems. However I am always game to try and learn new things so I am going to see what I can do, I will report back.
