i use ebico for gas because they are cheapest on prepay but on edf for electric, they are a bit cheaper than ebico where i am.
you would have to use a comparrison site for electric because costs vary on area0 -
Just had this from British gas regarding the other problem i had with them and changing to the Click Package. Here is my figures
Elec on 15/12/09 Read 15295 - Start Read 28/08/09 14786 = 509 units which on Electric is 509 kwh
78 days at 15.519p/day = £12.10
usage 509 x 10.416p =£53.01 total £65.11 Total put in meter by yourself during this period £69 therefor credit refund credit sent to meter = £3.89
Gas read 15/12/09 read 01162 - Start Read 28/08/09 1030 = 132 units
looking at gas in your area 1 unit is equal to 11.22 kwh
132 units = 1481 kwh 78 days x 7.34 = 572.52 @ 7.991 p = £45.75
908 kwh @ 3.266 = £29.65
Total £75.40 Credit out in gas meter £86 therefor refund credit sent to meter £10.600 -
In the process from changing my gas from them to edf duel fuel,my electric was with BG.
I am a low to average user 12700Kwh gas 2450Kwh electric per year will save around £84 per year
NPower were about £30 cheaper per year but would have been tied in for an extra 6 months plus with quidco cash back £60 and a £30 voucher from edf it was the best deal.
I have had no problem at all from ebico but the prices have gone higher compared to the rest the last 9 months or so.0 -
...I have had no problem at all from ebico but the prices have gone higher compared to the rest the last 9 months or so.
Ebico last changed their prices end March 2009, when they reduced electricity on average by 9% and gas by 2.5%.
The previous price change which was an increase was in October 2008.
Both these prices changes took place when most, if not all, suppliers revised their prices generally, although some failed to offer any reductions in March 2009.
What may be true is that some suppliers may have offered special discounted tariffs to those that apply (usually involving online billing, paying monthly by DD, perhaps early exit fess too, etc), however they have kept existing tariffs more or less the same.
There is also the odd newcomer who may be cheaper, but again that usually involves online billing, monthly DD payments and early exit fees (and perhaps even a change of meter) ... and one doesn't even offer E7 currently.
Ebico does not offer special tariffs or discounts to a few; it has a simple one price for all policy. To suggest that ebico prices have "gone higher" in the last 9 months is incorrect."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
