Excel Parking Services Ltd

HELP!!

I returned to my car on a Sheffield Retail Centre this afternoon to find that I'd over stayed my welcome in a FREE Car Park (one hour limit) and had been issued with a £60.00 (if paid in 14 days) or £100.00 (if paid after 14 days) ticket by some little low life working on behalf of "Excel Parking Services Ltd"

Any way the question
Is should I pay?
And if not what should I expect from them in the way of legal/debt threats?

Just ignore and don't contact them. You will get a few letters from them followed by "debt collectors" and "solicitors", and then they will lose interest in you.

After getting a couple of bloody noses in recent court cases, Excel will never take you to court.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Its a scam. There are lots of threads on here about Excel and similar pond dwellers, have a good read. Laugh at them and enjoy Christmas!

Plenty of threats, but no action, after their tickets were deemed unlawful penalties by a judge: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-542355/Judge-quashes-300-parking-fine--set-frighten-intimidate-driver.html

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Pay up immediately, or else they are LEGALLY allowed to come round and burn your car.
  • This is the standard advice on how to deal with these:-
We all like an easy life and to receive what amounts to threatening letters is usually too much for most people. The first instinct is to pay up and make it go away. It is easier than you think to ignore these begging letters when you realise that's all they are. They are not insisting that you pay a fine even if that's what they say. Later you will get the ones which say they ""may"" take you to court and they ""may"" get a judgement against you and lots of other ""mays"". Its virtually unheard of for them to do anything more than threaten, less likely than Elvis winning the Frinton on Sea international lottery. File all the letters, solicitors letters and debt collectors letters(these are usually all from the same firm but with different names on) away at the bottom of a drawer and get them out this time next year and have a good laugh.

    IGNORE
    Don't Contact
    Don't Reply
    Don't Acknowledge
    Don't PAY
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

The OFT is a government organisation. The Government makes millions of pounds selling our details to these cowboys through the DVLA. Simple really.

    Hi everyone,

I found this thread from Google and I have been contacted by exel as well.

I was in Harvey Nicks car park the other =day, and there was a big sign saying no parking [mummies and kiddies only], but I parked anyway but only because my handicapped dog [it's got diabetes] needed to go to the toilet [this is one of the side effects of it's disease and the medication it has to take].

When I got back to my shiny big Range Rover Sport [09-reg] there was a PCN-thingy on there from EXEL????. My lawyer has told me to pay it or we will get a summons and a bigger fine.

    Any advise please?
