digital camera - crazy cameras

Hi all, ive got myself in a ruddy mess! i ordered a camera intended for the wifes xmas pressie from a website called crazy cameras, and then got panicked when i recieved a phone call from a chap with a questionable american accent asking to confirm my credit card details...

.....anyway after a quick google search (which i should have done before i confirmed my order!!!) and reading of avforums all about crazy cameras, i have cancelled my order and hope i get a refund (they took the money already). However my predicament is this, i have found the same camera on another website - ukdigitalcameras, and wonder if i should order this now in time for xmas, or wait and see what happens with the first one?!

i havent used this website either although the quick search does give positive feedback this time.

I'm Andrew from UK Digital Cameras. I just wanted to let you know that we can guarantee Christmas delivery if you order as late as Wednesday at 3pm, although we're advising customers to order on Monday or Tuesday to be on the safe side.

If you any problems getting a refund from Crazy Cameras then as long as you paid by credit card you'll have no problem getting a refund by requesting a chargeback through your card company.

If you do place an order with us then please let me know your order number so I can double check it for you.

hello i am considering buying from this website and am also v. concerned by the reviews. Are you sure you can garuntee it at advertised cost and delivered before christmas

My advice would be to always listen to the reviews. People write them for a reason, to stop other people being scammed.
I was looking at crazy cameras last week as I wanted one for my husband. Was nearly fooled, but checked the reviews and decided not to order. I instead bought a camera on ebay and got a good bargain for a brand new one someone had won in a raffle.

I'm not sure if your question was directed at me but just to clarify, I'm Andrew from UK Digital Cameras based in London, not Crazy Cameras who are based in America and subject to the poor reviews.

You can read independent reviews on UK Digital Cameras on Trustpilot (a site I highly recommend for checking out reviews on any retailer).

We're guaranteeing Christmas delivery on orders placed for in stock orders upto 3pm on Wednesday but the sooner the better!

and don't UKDigital Cameras offer a 2 year warranty on cameras even if the manufacturers only offer 1 year?

I bought a Nikon digital camera from UKDigital over 4 years ago after being put off Pixmania who often appear at the top of price comparison sites but provide grey imports. The manual would have been in French.

Luckily I found this out BEFORE buying and went to UKDigital.

Yes, we do offer a free two year warranty on all digital cameras - and the manuals are in English!

What has happened about your original order? I have gone and done the same thing this weekend. Cant believe my own stupidity when I am constantly going on at my children to beware of this kind of thing!

I placed the order, got the odd phone call, put two and two together and decided to cancel my order. I couldnt do it via the website so I emailed them. Three hours later I got a reply saying that the order was in the warehouse to be prepared for shipping, again I emailed and confirmed that I had cancelled the order.

I am not worried about getting a refund, as I have paid by credit card, but I am concerned at getting charged the return postage, when I clearly cancelled the order prior to it being shipped.

I posted this query in Consumer rights but wish I had read this post first!!! How did you get on OP? Did you come to a satisfactory conclusion?

I saw my friend using her Sony camera and came home and ordered one back in April. I then had the phone call asking me to confirm my credit card details which I was not happy about. Nevertheless I gave them the info they wanted and the camera arrived about three weks later. No problems at all and £100 cheaper than other sites. Was I just lucky. I had not googled or else I would not have bought from Crazy Cameras
