Pyrorus you're not being stupid at all, just responsible.

From SOA, others are more experienced to give advice than me, however 1 thing that stands out is AA cover is v expensive. I appreciate you need this due to mileage to work. Have you tried alternatives - see Martin's articles.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1094823518,14076,

Also, I appreciate your partner doesn't want her spending listed, however she really needs to come on board with you, you need all the help you can get! Even if we can save you only £5 here, £10 there etc it could make all the difference.

One final point....... about the ccj...... I've recently had to take out a ccj against someone. I know he was sent copies of all documentation by the court and asked to respond. he didn't, so had the ccj passed against him. Even if the solicitors ignored your letters you should have had copies of their application from the court. Had you completed these I think it's unlikey the ccj would have been rewarded. Did you receive these?

Hello and welcome by the way!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hello and welcome by the way!

The AA is the basic account but as HSBC decided to cancel my direct debits for no other apparent reason than their enjoyment I fell into arrears so its the agreed repayment. I only have to pay this month and next and thats finished. Then its goingto be reduced.

I honestly never recieved anything from the courts otherwise id have gotten advise from somewhere earlier.

As for my GF shes being stubborn with that. So im using the sites information to reduce her payments to bill etc. But I know for a fact as it stands at the moment her incoming and outgoing are the same up to a few quid.

    and thanx for the welcome.
  • You are lucky to have such a generous mother; I would take up her offer.

Your SOA is incomplete and your partner's income needs to be included and shared in the calculations. You do not have to show it in detail, just the figure will do.

According to my calculations you have £113.37 per week to spend on anything including food. If you spend more than this per week you are overspending. Write it in a note book and write down what you spend each week. Do not make any more purchases using credit cards. Good luck:

    income weekly monthly
    self 1528.00
    partner 0.00

    total 0.00 1528.00
    352.62 divided by 4.33

    352.62 total weekly income

    spend weekly monthly
    rent/mortgage 525.00
    council tax
    elec
    gas
    water
    secured loans
    TV licence
    fines
    car ins 80.00
    petrol 200.00
    aa 42.00
    road tax 3.17
    hsbc cc 15.00
    debs cc 15.00
    mbna
    nw loan 51.43
    nw loan 37.14
    nw cc 24.86
    hfc cc 32.57

    total 3.17 1023.00
    236.08 divided by 4.33

    239.25 total weekly spend

    Start= income - spend = 113.37 per week

That is the lowest I can get for insurance. I followed the advice on here and went to Confused then the others recommended. The problem is I crashed my car 2 years ago. My fault so thats against me and I got a speeding fine 2 years ago. Disputed it and lost so got a £150 fine and 6 points just for arguing. (I got caught by a cop with a blow dryer doing 31!!! in a 30 I argued that although i was over thelimit its easy to accidentally creep over. You cant keep that much of an eye on the speedo otherwise you attention would be permanently on the speedo and not on the outside of the car. I dis actually go to a solicitor as i thourght it was unfair but was told it was best just the accept it.) So that is the lowest I can get for my insurance. Its is creeping down but not by much.

Im also left with the old catch 22. Do i seel the car and get an old banger and insure it for less but then cost more on repairs. I have a old audi at the moment and its not had a repair (except wear and tear items) in three years. The way I see it the cost of additional insurance was worth the saving in repairs.

The only other way of saving would have been to go third party but that would have only saved me 50 notes and the way i see it if i crash it I cant afford not to have a car or buy a replacement one.
