Natwest.

I come home today from work today, and a letter from Natwest credit review team inviting me to call them. The letter was telling me that I was managing my finances fine, but said if I feel it would help to call them.

I have a overdraft - which I use - salary goes in etc.Tried to call them but they are closed.Anyone have any idea?

Simple. They want to sell you you stuff.

You can opt of these letters from Nat West if they bother. That way you would only get letters for something that actually matters.

  • really?I thought the credit review team were - maybe going to review my account and overdraft-thought they were a different team compared to sales and banking?maybe take my overdraft away. The letter does say we can see you have no problems on your account but we mointor accounts.

Mind you I have stopped using my savings accounts with them (sitting empty)as I moved my savings elsewhere.

Can't be 100% sure, but from what you say, it sounds very much like a sales pitch. May be worth a call, you might get a better deal on something (might not). However if you are the easily persuadable kind of person, you may want to think about calling.

  • thanks - I am not easily persuaded! Its just the fact the letter was from 'credit review team' that got me worried as never heard of them before.

I was under the impression that Credit Review were part of the Collections centre (ie: debt management) so the only thing they might try and get you on is a repayment plan?

I may be wrong though :)

    It is a sales pitch.

If they were worried about your "conduct", it would be a different letter.

Particularly, they want to sell you mortgages and Advantage banking cards (that cost) - but will also look at opening savings accounts and insurances etc.

The branches are targetted to get a number of points each month, else the staff members get to see the error of their ways

Just a standard letter. Lloyds used to be the worst for this, but Natwest have to be up there now for hassling customers (especially in branches).

Don't blame the staff though - they have no choice.
